Over the past year, RGBSI has proudly partnered with HelpAge India, a leading NGO dedicated to elderly care, by funding cataract surgeries for underprivileged individuals to restore eyesight.
Through our contributions, over 100 patients have received life changing treatments, allowing them to regain their independence and quality of life. The ability to see again means more than just improved eyesight; it’s a renewed sense of life.
Access to critical medical care can change lives, particularly for elderly individuals who face daily struggles due to impaired vision. By supporting HelpAge India, we have helped patients undergo essential eye surgeries, reducing their dependence on caregivers. Restoring eyesight is not just about improving vision. It’s about restoring freedom, confidence, and the ability to engage fully in life once again.
Nagappa Hadimani, a farmer from Haradolli in the Bagalkot District, had to stop working due to his failing eyesight. As his vision worsened, he became increasingly dependent on his wife, struggling with simple tasks. Upon learning about a free eye camp supported by RGBSI, Nagappa attended a screening where doctors diagnosed a mature cataract in his eye. In August 2024, he underwent surgery, and the results changed his life.
Nagavva Pujari, from the same district, had been struggling with her fading vision for months. Her son and daughter-in-law became her primary caretakers as she became unable to live independently. When they heard about the free eye camp, they saw an opportunity to restore Nagavva’s quality of life. Doctors diagnosed her with a cataract and arranged her surgery, which was a success. "This surgery has given me a new life," Nagavva expressed. With her vision restored, she no longer relies on others and has regained independence.
