The holiday season is a time to be grateful for all we have, as well as to give back to others. This year, the staff at RGBSI collected toys for children in need through Toys for Tots, a U.S. Marine Corp program that distributes toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community.
A marine from the Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township, Mich. came to collect the toys for distribution to Metro Detroit children. The marine extended thanks to RGBSI staff for their efforts in making the 2013 Toys for Tots drive a success.
The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver a message of hope to less fortunate children through a new toy at Christmas. Toys for Tots activities take place in communities where Marine Corps Reserves are located. This helps further Toys for Tots other main goal: to unite members of local communities under a common goal for three months each year. There are nearly 25,000 Marines, Marine Corps League members, veteran Marines and volunteers involved in annual campaigns, and thousands of children and families benefit from Toys for Tots drives throughout the country.
